Where Home Is

2020 has many of us spending more time at home than we have in previous years.

As a Hornig Companies’ resident, you know the walk will be shoveled, your work orders will be responded to in a timely manner and your location is ‘spot-on’ to do the things you love most. As the days get shorter and the nights get chillier, we wanted to offer some fun and easy tweaks to make your apartment feel more cozy than ever.

Our motto is “Where Home Is” and having a home that gives you a warm, cozy, relaxed feeling the minute you walk in is a great stress reliever during trying times.

We are always amazed by how creative our residents are! In today’s blog, we are highlighting a few of our favorite tips and tricks on how you too can cozy up your home, no matter what size or shape it may be.

Lighting- Think about how your space is lit. Adding a couple lamps for muted lighting, opening the blinds, washing the inside window panes or even changing out bulbs from a bright white light to a muted light, will often make a big difference.

De-Clutter- Clearing out the things in your space that aren’t used on a regular basis will clear the clutter and sometimes the stress in your mind as well. Keeping counters clean, having a basket or drawer for the items that always seem to fall directly on your counter, making your bed every day and doing a morning pick-up from the evening before may help clear your mind by staying clutter free.

Color- Warm colors tend to be darker colors of a saturated hue. If you like cooler, lighter colors, you can ‘cozy’ a space up with wood or natural materials as well.
